The concept and the implementation

 

We choose Piran because it’s perfect urban area for orienteering and have all capability to hold high class sport event. We decided to organize orienteering event on a high class level as possible. With Slovenian orienteering federation we decided to organize Slovenian national championship - Sprint and WRE event in 2006. We hope to prepare a good sport event for recreational and also for professional sportsmen. In addition we agreed with Italian regional federation (FISOFVG) that event will also count for FVG centri storici ranking 2006. Event will be also prepared for scholars, local people, tourists and media.

 

In Piran we hope to present project School orienteering which is under supervision of Slovenian orienteering federation and start in 2006. Children of age of 7-12 years will compete on magnified map of Piran. Our aim on professional sport field is also to present & promote project PWT Slovenia 2007.

 

Sprint is one of the orienteering format (others: middle, long, relay) and it is very suitable sport event for old towns. Sprint events have a lot of interest and are widespread among towns in Europe. In our neighbourhood is Venice which every year host the biggest sprint event with a few thousand of sportsmen. Orienteering event in Piran is an unfulfilled wish of all who likes orienteering in old towns, because Piran is one of the beautiful cities in Slovenia and can be also a big challenge for ELITE orienteerers.

 

We would like to invite all generations to try and go on orienteering course, especially children, youngsters and families. Orienteering as a sport is suitable for all ages. When you choose the course you decide on your own skills the length and technical aspect of the course. The most interesting part of event will be also a start of the best runners (men and women) in ELITE class.
